The Creative Director primarily works directly with clients, assisting the sales team with pitches and building concepts for each of our brands. They will also lead the visual design team, providing them with direction and pushing final products across the finish line.

The Creative Director must be a master of concept creation and attention to detail. Constructive feedback is something you’re comfortable providing, and an appreciation for process is key. Efficient execution is something we pride ourselves on.

While the Creative Director isn’t involved in most project execution, some will be required from time to time. At a minimum, they need to understand the creative process and have experience with various types of creative projects in order to lead designers effectively and provide consistent insight and direction. Creative vision, direction, and oversight will be at the core of the Director’s responsibilities and client satisfaction is always their top priority.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and present engaging creative pitches with a sense of purpose and experience—and take a few risks.

  • Collaborate with the editorial director to look for opportunities to push brands further and create and lead new business pitches.

  • Research and advocate for design solutions that meet the needs of our clients and their audiences.

  • Provide project scope estimates with time, money, and people power in mind.

  • Create a look from the ground up or move easily within an existing brand while always keeping the target audience and client expectations top of mind.

  • Direct a talented team of in-house designers with direction, constructive feedback, and final approval on all projects.

  • Provide design team performance evaluations, mentorship, and regular check-ins.

  • Ensure a high standard of visual execution across all media and campaigns.

  • Work with developers and UX designers so aesthetics are aligned with usability and web standards and ensure the integrity of the creative vision.

  • Have an eye on creative industry trends and changes with a future-thinking lens. The ability to implement new tech and trends is a must.

  • Help attract new talent as an ambassador of Bonfire Marketing to the creative community.

Experience and
Skill Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree required

  • 5+ years total industry experience
  • 3+ years working in a position of design leadership in a digital-focused setting

  • Knowledge of interactive content, 3D rendering, animation, video, and photography is a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of Adobe CC, Google Suite, and overall understanding of Mac tools.

  • An inspiring portfolio of experienced design work demonstrating knowledge of conceptual direction and execution across a variety of channels

  • B.A. or B.S. degree required
